Character Guys cover Vancouver Webfest 2016
We were so pleased to be asked to cover North America’s largest web series festival -a celebration of indie film’s newest medium, the web series. After putting our heads together with executive director Suzette Laqua, and director of development, Paula Hoffman, we came up with our game plan for Ric Mercer-style “guerrilla” interviews with directors, producers and stars from all over the world -keeping it light, funny and bringing out some great moments with our guests. Filming all of this was our friend and colleague Neil Every -writer & director of our webseries Fools For Hire.
Saturday night we returned to debut our new comedy duo, The Aristo-Critics. These two 17th century fops created a huge buzz and plenty of laughs, criticizing horrible modern fashions, asking them anout their favorite webseries screening of the day, and giving film-makers some hilarious ideas for new webseries. They kicked the evening into high gear and got some great interview content.
Sunday night was the the Vancouver Webfest Award Ceremony -hosted by me (Mike) and my talented partner Nick Harrison. For the entire day, Neil had been slaving away, edited our interviews plus B-roll into a slick, highly entertaining product. Result? After a smooth and entertaining awards ceremony, we had one more treat for the guests: a highlight reel of the webfest weekend that got laughs and applause. Plus, this very slick video is a perfect marketing tool for Suzette and Paula -fantastic promo material to draw new film-makers to Vancouver for VWF 2017!
